Our Exmoor cottages are located about 3 miles from Simonsbath. It’s a wonderful walk to Simonsbath, along quiet lanes and along the riverside. Along the way, you’re likely to see some wonderful wildlife.
Once you get to Simonsbath, there is a tearoom, plus a great pub (that’s dog friendly) called the Exmoor Forest Inn.
Here’s a bit of information about Simonsbath: Situated at approximately 1,100 feet above sea level, it serves as a central point for exploring the surrounding moorland. The village developed around a hunting lodge built in the 1650s and later became associated with the Knight family’s ambitious 19th-century reclamation project to transform parts of Exmoor into farmland. Today, Simonsbath serves as a popular base for walkers, riders, and outdoor enthusiasts. The village offers stunning views across the moor and provides access to numerous footpaths and bridleways that crisscross this distinctive landscape of heather, gorse, and ancient woodland.
