Wintershead offer facilities that make it the perfect holiday destination for horse lovers. Our stabling provides everything needed for your horse’s comfort and care, allowing guests to bring their beloved horses along to experience the magnificent riding terrain of Exmoor.

The five-acre paddock, bordered by traditional Exmoor stone walls is carefully maintained to provide excellent grazing. This generous enclosed space allows horses to stretch their legs, graze naturally and relax between outings. The field’s elevated position affords breathtaking views across the moor, whilst its sheltered sections provide protection during inclement weather.

Exmoor National Park offers some of Britain’s most spectacular riding terrain, with hundreds of kilometres of bridleways and permitted paths crisscrossing ancient woodland, heather-clad moorland and picturesque river valleys. From gentle ambles along leafy lanes to exhilarating gallops across open moorland, the riding possibilities are endless. Many routes connect directly to Wintershead, meaning you can set off on horseback directly from your accommodation without needing to box or trailer your horse.

We provide secure parking for horse trailers and lorries, alongside dedicated washing facilities for muddy tack and riding gear. Our local knowledge includes information about farriers, equine vets and feed suppliers should you require these services during your stay.
